A basic tenet of anti-censorship philosophy is that answering questions about modern events and history should not be limited to only those who are in power. Voices should be heard that are outside questionable government and media-approved narratives. To pretend that these entities and the individuals they contain are not affected by their own politics and agendas is to deny human nature. Their narratives are subject to question and there are many instances in history where the truth will not be found by simply sticking to the narratives that we’ve been fed.
There are many cases in history where we may never know exactly what happened. Just to name a few:
The circumstances around Pearl Harbor. Were blockades against the Japanese intended to drive them into offensive actions? What intelligence did officials in Washington DC have the day before the attack?
The truth behind a 1947 wreck investigation in Roswell. Was this a wrecked alien spacecraft, or something much more innocuous? Why has the USAF released four conflicting stories on those events?
The assassination of John F. Kennedy. Was the CIA or any other portion of the US Deep State actually involved?
The US’ entry into the Vietnam war. What was known about the Gulf of Tonkin false flag and by whom?
The idea of Weapons of Mass destruction in Iraq. What portions of the US government knew about fabricated intelligence and when did they know?
The attacks of 9/11. What really hit the Pentagon and why hasn’t the government’s footage been made available? What truly led to Building 7’s collapse? Who really perpetuated these events and what was their motivation?
I have my own views and opinions about several of the historic events above, but because I wasn’t there, I can’t pretend that I’ll ever truly know the full truth. Even those that were there won’t have all of the details and reasons. Reality isn’t something easily portrayed in a tweet or a comic book, as situations are complex and we can never actually know all of the reasons in the hearts and minds of those who make decisions or those who carry them out. Though this is the case, having the ability to question and discuss possibilities outside the allowed narrative is how we can come closer to the truth in the long-term. We can at least increase our awareness of new evidence and information that becomes available, adding nuance to our understanding. A high degree of discernment is necessary, as there will always be misinformation mixed in. However, the discussion needs to exist. Opposing viewpoints need to be shared and the evidence for each needs to be weighed, including original sources.
Covid as an example
The following is based on my own views, but I believe that the truth is becoming more obvious every day to anybody paying attention. On the topic of Covid’s hype, masking, lockdowns, and injections, we saw the censorship of many well-qualified doctors and scientists who provided data and well-reasoned opinions.
Their content was shadow-banned, demonetized, and taken down. They were kicked off platforms for spreading what “fact checkers” labeled as “misinformation.” Evidence is strong that censorship wasn’t only a decision made by the platforms, themselves. The White House Press Secretary revealed, and a court case asserts that the Biden Administration coerced dominant media platforms to censor postings. The Twitter Files also revealed much of the same. This is clearly in direct opposition to the First Amendment to the US Constitution. So, as usual, the censors acted on behalf of those in power: both Big Tech and the US government.
My perspective is that of a US citizen, but similar situations were found globally. Often to an even higher degree, including Western states like the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Even with all of the censorship, many of these creators had a very real effect that got the word out and punched holes in the dominant narrative. At least for those who were paying attention, red-pilled enough to question what they were told, and possessing a reasonable degree of discernment. This began as early as April of 2020, when Doctors Erickson and Massihi held a press conference questioning the narrative. This was immediately the most banned video on the internet. But I heard about it. Did you? In the months that followed, alternative platforms covered the statements by Kary Mullis (inventor of PCR techniques, though already deceased at that time), Dr. Michael Yeadon (previous Pfizer executive), Dr. Robert Malone (inventor of some mRNA technologies), Dr. Peter McCullough (a practicing physician), and even the authors of the Greater Barrington Declaration, Doctors Kulldorff, Gupta, and Bhattacharya.
These individuals were vocal about many topics related to Covid, but they (and a score of others with similar views) were relentlessly attacked for daring to share their views. A quick search for any of these individuals, even in September of 2023, reveals results dominated by fact-checkers and mainstream sources attacking their characters. However, today more and more of what they’ve said has been accepted as true and making its way into the mainstream. We’ve even seen a crack in the dam in California, where Governor Newsom is saying that today “we would’ve done everything differently.” He may not be genuine in his statement, but it reflects that questions on the previous Covid approach are becoming mainstream.
These brave individuals have been successful in changing the narrative. However, they fought an uphill fight while being kept out of the mainstream. Many who only follow mainstream sources and buy the narratives they’re fed are only just now coming around to certain realizations.
What would have happened if dissident creators were not silenced in the first place? I have to believe that their words would have reached more ears and there would have been stronger pushback against many unwarranted government and corporate actions. I believe that lives would have been saved and the economy would be in much, much better shape.
